The Alanda coffee table, an iconic piece that ushered in the 1980s, is now revisited in homage to Paolo Piva, the great architect and designer who passed away last year. A highly successful classic and sought-after vintage furnishing complements, Alanda is one of the most typical design objects of a period with a wealth of strong, daring stylistic signs, often in a dialogue with architecture, reproducing its most attractive, characteristic elements in miniature. The Alanda’s structure, serving as both pedestal and support, recalls a group of upturned pyramids, a geodetic frame that has always characterized it as if it was a magical object, entrapping and amplifying cosmic energy. Alanda ‘18 is offered in two sizes – 120 x 120 cm and 120 x 180 cm – with structure in glossy black painted steel and top in extra light or smoky glass.

Minimalist and innovative, the Ayana collection becomes a new chapter in the story that connects B&B Italia to Naoto Fukasawa. It sees wood as the protagonist, interpreted in an unusual way, witha pleasant oriental touch. If the depths and heights are a clear reference to the south-east Asian tradition, the backrest recalls a Swedish wall bar, an exercise equipment turned into a load-bearing element. Thanks to this solution, the elements of the Ayana collection can be enjoyed and appreciated at 360 degrees, discovering on each side a new elegant interplay of intersections and proportions. Two and three seat sofas and the armchair have armrests at different heights. The armchair armrest is higher to guarantee a more ergonomic seat. The sofa armrest, which is lower, can be combined with a cushion that is easy to be fastened and removed, and helps to lie down more comfortably if necessary. The upholstery of this collection stands out for the individual cushions, all covered with waterproof fabrics. Ayana’s warm minimalism is completed with a chair, a dining table and a low table. The dining chair recalls the stylistic features of the other seats, for a perfect family feeling, with the structure in natural teak wood and two generously padded cushions covered in fabric. The table stands out for its oval top in serpentine, a typical stone of the Alps. The supporting structure in natural teak appears light but is extremely robust, able to resist weather and support the heavy top. Even the coffee table has a round section structure in natural teak, with a top in serpentine. Its broad dimensions allow to create a pleasant convivial atmosphere in outdoor settings. Ayana is a project with a green soul. The teak used to make the structures is FSC certified (Forest Stewardship Council) and all the materials that make up the various elements of the series, at the end of the product’s life cycle, can be separated and disposed of with respect for the environment.
The low tables designed to complement the sofas and chairs have the same tops composed of glazed lava stone tiles. They are available in two sizes with structures in steel rod painted. The collection is enriched and completed by a series of round tables that offer multiple support solutions in a variety of shapes, sizes and materials. The Borea coffee tables, in different sizes and heights, have thin structures in painted steel rod and tops in glazed lava stone.
The system includes a family of complements, seamlessly integrated with the seats, making it possible to design many compositions suitable for different space customization requirements. The strong material component of Butterfly’s cover and the softness of its shapes are an invitation to comfort, which, together with the modularity of the system, make it ideal for transversal projects, from hotels to marine applications. The Butterfly complements have an outline that perfectly follows the lines of the sofa, harmoniously flanking the seat at the top. The family consists of round, square, and rectangular low tables and a small table featuring a large weave pattern, made of tortora coloured twisted polyethylene fibres that wraps around the grey painted aluminium frame. Two finishes are available for the surfaces of the complements: white Carrara marble “venatino statuarietto” or thermo-treated ash wooden slats.

Colosseo fits smoothly into the highly successful product category of accessories, furnishing elements that change function according to occasion and need, and for Colosseo this means transforming from coffee table to pouf. When designing this new product, Fukasawa arrived at the shape he was searching for by considering a solid in the form of an upside-down truncated cone, lightened by arch-shaped grooves that define the surface, creating an assonance with the structure of the famous Roman arena it is named after. Made of hard polyurethane painted in sixteen glossy colours, Colosseo is available in two sizes: 40 cm diameter x 45 cm height and 50 cm diameter x 55 cm height.
