Amidst the Grandeur of the Metropolitan Theater
Maxalto, renowned for its timeless elegance and impeccable craftsmanship, has launched its highly anticipated Heritage campaign, celebrating the fusion of classical sophistication with contemporary design against the backdrop of the illustrious and newly-renovated Metropolitan Theater. A masterpiece of cinematic art deco architecture by none other than celebrated Filipino architect Juan M. Arellano, the interiors of the structure are decorated with tropical fruit motifs on the carved wood ceiling. Maxalto’s iconic pieces will take center stage in a visual spectacle reminiscent of the grandeur of Parisian opera houses, a tradition from which Maxalto takes much inspiration.
Drawing inspiration from the rich tradition of opera and performing arts in Paris, particularly at the Opera Garnier, the Maxalto Heritage campaign promised a theatrical experience like no other. The historic venue served as a captivating setting, with furniture pieces strategically staged throughout its various spaces — from the majestic main theater to the intimate entryways, balconies, and backstage wings. Each corner of the Metropolitan Theater came alive with the allure of Maxalto’s exquisite designs, seamlessly blending with the architectural splendor and Filipino soul of the venue.
The campaign was nothing short of cinematic, with dramatic lighting casting a spotlight on each meticulously crafted piece, elevating them to star status in the immersive video and photo presentation. The monochromatic treatment added a touch of theatrical drama, enhancing the visual impact and highlighting the timeless beauty of Maxalto’s creations.
Adding to the enchanting ambiance were the soul-stirring melodies arranged and played by talented musicians from the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, serenading the venue with an original rendition of the beloved Filipino folk song, “Bahay Kubo”. Their music resonated throughout the MET, creating a harmonious backdrop for the elegant choreography of furniture and space.

Lilum Sofa — Characterized by sinuous, organic-inspired lines, the Lilum Sofa is designed for convivial and intimate settings, offering a perfect blend of comfort and style. Astrum Table — A collection of tables distinguished by a unique “sawhorse” base-frame, the Astrum Table combines elegance with functionality, offering various finishes to suit different aesthetics. This imposing piece is placed in the grand foyer, next to the Amoenus soft ottoman and the Elios small table, welcoming audience goers and performers alike.
Cleide Chair — The protagonist of the video, this re-edition of Antonio Citterio’s classic design is updated with modern materials and production techniques, ensuring timeless elegance and comfort.
Amoenus Soft Sofa — Offering great comfort and modern curved back design, the Amoenus Soft sofa takes its rightful place on the main stage but is suitable for diverse settings.
Caratos Chair — Characterized by fluid shapes and a lightweight frame, the Caratos chair offers both comfort and style, perfect for intimate conversations and interactions.
Alcor Storage Units — Marked by a rigorous aesthetic and precious wood surfaces, the Alcor series embodies Maxalto’s artisanal excellence and craftsmanship. These storage units accompany our violinist’s journey as she makes her way to the center stage.
Pathos Table & Apollo Sofa — An important piece in the Maxalto collection, the Pathos table is available with round, rectangular or square top, with rounded corners and refined details on the curved edges.
